YAKIMA, Wash. – Blaine Tamaki of Tamaki law in Yakima and Kennewick has been named “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by The Washington State Association for Justice, and a Super Lawyer by Washington Law & Politics.
The trial lawyer award usually goes to an attorney from the west side of the state, but Tamaki was honored as the first ever attorney from Yakima to win it.
He says receiving the award was a big surprise. “My wife was there, my kids were there,” he said, “it was a surprise to me. When I walked in I realized that I might win an award, but I didn’t think it would be the most coveted award that they give.”
The super lawyer award is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations.
Tamaki graduated from the University of Washington School of Law and has been practicing in central Washington since 1982.
