Former Cowiche, WA Bishop Arrested for Sex Abuse Crimes

An Anglican Church priest who served at St. Juan Diego in the town of Cowiche, Washington from 1997 to 2006 has been arrested in Fresno, California for alleged sex abuse. Jesus Antonio Castaneda Serna, also known as Father Castaneda, was reported to police by an Anglican Church bishop. Serna posted bail the day after he was arrested. The church bishop told police that 18 parishioners had come forward to report abuse, but many of them are undocumented and afraid to report the crimes to law enforcement. According to the Monsignor of the Yakima diocese, a parishioner later came forward to say Serna also sexually assaulted him.
